Online programs may include accelerated class schedules, which can reduce the time it takes to earn your bachelor’s degree compared to traditional on-campus study. In-state and out-of-state online students pay $375 per credit. The internship can then be taken for academic credit, however, internships are not available in every state.

Concordia University in Saint Paul is a private, Lutheran liberal arts institution that offers a variety of online courses. The program also offers an optional 36-credit specialization in criminology. Due to state regulations, UMass Lowell does not currently provide online instruction to students in Arkansas, Kansas, or Minnesota.

Distance learning programs can offer flexibility for those who are working part-time or even full-time during the school year. FSU’s program provides students with a breadth of knowledge surrounding the criminal justice field. For first-time college students, this undergraduate program consists of 128 credits, including general education requirements and major-related coursework.

Online computer or digital forensic degrees train students to search computer data for legal evidence to help ongoing investigations. While asynchronous courses still have due dates for assignments just like a traditional, on-campus class, the increased ability for online students to schedule around work and other commitments does have its perks. After earning my degree, I received a pay increase and a promotion to a supervisor position. Associate degree-holders can earn this degree by completing 40 credit hours. A growing number of schools are offering online options that allow distance learners to earn the same degree as on-campus students. Since a bachelor’s degree is becoming a common requirement for many criminal justice careers, an online undergraduate program can be excellent preparation for many career paths. Many online programs offer courses in eight-week formats that carry the same number of credits as traditional, semester-based courses. Saint Leo’s criminalistics bachelor’s degree program is offered in an exclusively online format.

Online programs can provide an affordable and flexible option for women trying to balance the demands of work, family, and earning their degree. The topics include current issues in cyber law, network security, mobile forensic security, computer ethics, database design, information systems and computer forensics.
